Escherichia coli O157:H7 is a major food-borne infectious pathogen that causes diarrhea, haemorrhagic colitis, and haemolytic uremic syndrome. We have determined the genome sequence of an O157:H7 strain isolated from the Sakai outbreak which occurred in 1996 in Sakai City, Osaka Pref. Japan.
